localhost

Ongoing

localhost gallery is an art space operating out of my home in Walnut Creek. Exhibitions are installed in my living room; openings are salon-style dinner parties created in collaboration with local culinary artists. Shared meals are an ancient ritual for turning strangers into friends.

The Model

The core innovation is an alternative funding and stewardship model inspired by Edward Villanueva’s “money as medicine” philosophy and adapted from RadicalxChange’s Partial Common Ownership of Art (PCOArt) framework.

PCOArt recognizes three roles: the Artist, a Creator Circle (the people, communities, and entities integral to the work’s creation), and Stewards — supporters whose possession of the work reflects commitment to the Creator Circle’s cause, not just the artwork itself.

The artist and Creator Circle define a Stewardship License that sets the terms: who stewards the work, for how long, what honorarium flows back to the Creator Circle each cycle, and under what conditions stewardship passes to someone new. No one holds absolute ownership. Instead, the work circulates through a network of aligned actors.
